Becoming Someone Worth Talking With: Notes from the Listening Edge

Here’s the deal: we all want to be someone worth talking with—right?
Whether we’re trying to grow friendships, deepen our relationships with partners or children, or simply show up more fully in our everyday roles—massage therapists, teachers, bartenders, personal-growth experts, healthcare practitioners, salon or spa folks—we long to be someone others feel safe talking with—being with.

I’ve been a therapist, spiritual guide, and coach for over 40 years—as well as a mom, a friend, a member of a large family. And still, after all these years, I find myself listening from the edge of my seat—leaning in, eager to truly present myself with what’s being shared. I used to say, “Oh, I know about that, and then tune out.” Not anymore. These days, the listening edge expands me—person by person, session by session—stretching my presence, my heart, my humility. Yep, no fixing, healing or problem solving! JEESH!

Here on my blog, I’ll be sharing Becoming Someone Worth Talking With: Notes from the Listening Edge. Much of this will come from my YouTube series, I Want to Be a Better Coach. But you’ll also find new reflections—sparked by real questions, challenges, soulful moments. Maybe you’ll even share your own, and I’ll speak to them.

My intention is to capture that delicious sense of leaning into presence, wonder and truth—no matter who you’re with. For me, this is sacred, intimate, real. It’s raw in all the best ways. It’s what I believe every Life Coach, and every human being, for that matter, really and truly wants to bring to their relationships. This is what grows one into being that someone worth talking with—being with.

I’ll be sharing reflections, confessions, insights, messiness, humor, and wisdom—all from my lived practice of being on the edge. This is the whole vibe: fierce and tender, humble, honest and holy. I’m wrecked when I write these. I’m hoping you are wrecked by reading them. Whether in written word or through sessions or podcasts, this is the real work—the gritty, grace-filled, gut-level truth of growing, showing up, and witnessing your becoming.

I offer this soul-to-soul invitation: to the tender, gritty work of becoming who you already are—whole, wise, and wonderfully human.

I’m sending you blessings and the courage to have all the fun you’re willing to have!

Blessings,

Rosie
